Chavela

Children’s Illustration

Designing means putting creativity at the service of something that truly matters.

“Chavela Wants to Go to School” is a children’s story with a social purpose, developed for Fundació Pau i Solidaritat País Valencià. The challenge was to create an engaging and approachable illustration style that could also help explain a difficult reality to younger audiences. And yes — we achieved it.

The warm style, gentle colours and narrative approach are designed to connect emotionally with children. The aim was not simply to create a beautiful story, but to develop an educational tool with heart — something useful for teachers and appealing for publishers or foundations looking to communicate meaningful stories effectively.

And the story itself?
Chavela is a Nicaraguan girl who dreams of going to school. But first she must sell tortillas to tourists so she can buy herself a notebook. It’s a simple yet powerful story that opens the door to conversations about inequality, education and children’s rights.

“Working with Veroma has been a gift. From the very beginning they understood the sensitivity of the project and translated it into a visual proposal full of emotion. The result exceeded our expectations: an educational story that is powerful and full of soul.”
